Winnie Fristoe - Voice Teacher

Vocal Instructor Winnie Fristoe

Winnie was born in the Panhandle of Texas. She is the eldest child in a musical family which includes a jazz musician father, a singing mother, and a pianist brother. Winnie's family formed a quartet who performed Christmas carols and other four part a capella pieces at nursing homes, parties, weddings, and other events around her hometown. She was in choir through junior high, high school and college, including the Texas All-State Choir her senior year of high school. She studied math and took classical voice lessons in college at Southwestern University in Georgetown, TX. Her teaching experience includes not only voice lessons but also mathematics tutoring and teaching technical training classes at the Global outsourcing and consulting company where she worked after earning her bachelors degree.

Winnie loves music of all kinds, but her current favorite styles are indie pop, R&B, and jazz. She gets excited seeing each of her voice students discover parts of his or her range that were previously unused and loves showing her students that they can sing with ease and without the tension and strain dampens confidence and can permanently damage the voice if not corrected.

Outside of teaching voice at Tempo, Winnie enjoys studying nutrition and sciences, exercising, traveling, and exploring different cultures and languages.
